Creating sub-folder results in strange situation

  1. If I go to a folder call it FolderA.
  2. Let us say it has two files in it file-a and file-b.
  3. If I then use command + shift + n to create a new folder in FolderA called untitled folder
  4. If I doulbe click on untitled folder it opens and, rather than being empty, it shows file-a, file-b and untitled folder.

The only way I can create untitled folder in an existing folder is to create it on the Desktop and drag it in.

I have tried rebooting but this strange situation persists. Any thoughts?

My install of ML was on July 25th. On July 28th I cloned my disk to a second disk using SuperDuper. Just booted off that disk and it has the same problem.

I'll look for some cache files and then I may start killing background process from my AV and other such software to see if I can isolate it. I will likely see if there are unique processes in my main versus test accounts.

If I find out the problem I will post back.
