HT203442: iPod nano (6th generation): Music stops when display turns off

Learn about iPod nano (6th generation): Music stops when display turns off

Q: My nano plays music for 10-30 seconds then enters pause.  I've done the steps in the trouble shooting guide with the plugged in earphones, that does not help.

My new iPod nano will play music for anywhere between 5 and 30 seconds then go to pause. It does not do this just when the screen goes dark.

I can start the song again by pressing play, then a little bit later-    auto pause.

The battery is running down faster too-  like it's really using it up too fast, or so it seems.

The iPod is new. I loaded up my music and went to the airport- now, crap~  don't want to work right.

Any suggestions are helpful. I did the reset by holding down the - button and big button for 6 seconds. That was no help either.

If possible, try another set of headphones to rule out the possibility of a damaged/faulty headset.

You should also take a few moments to look inside of the iPod's headphone jack to make sure it is clean and clear of debris.

Otherwise, since the iPod is brand new, return it for a replacement or refund.  Or take it to an Apple Store/Genius Bar and show them what you are experiencing.  They should swap it out for you at no cost since it's still under Apple's 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects.

I tried all the listed things to get this to work, and it continued to fail.

I traded it in for a new unit.

    Thanks.

Glad to hear that.  Enjoy the replacement.
