Safari 6.0 Address Bar URL Displaying Half Black, Half Gray

I downloaded the new Safari and now the URLs in the search bar are displaying in an annoying way — with the first half of the URL in black, and the rest in gray. I think Firefox had a similar feature, that would enhance the primary parts of the URL; but I was able to turn it off in preferences.

How do I fix this in Safari? I just want the whole URL to display in black.

I tried restarting Safari and turning off extensions, but ended up having to reboot to get the latter part of the URL to display again. During the time that it was not working, I noticed that while in full screen, it did work correctly. I don't use Safari in full screen normally, but tried it to see if the URL would be there.
