Scrolling stops working

For quite some time now, I have an issue where scrolling up and down a page in Safari just stops working. I can usually get it going again by refreshing the page, although sometimes quitting and restarting Safari is the only fix.

Since I have also started to notice this behavior when using the Twitter app, I'm convinced it some sort of system-wide issue. This has happened with 10.6 and 10.7.

Any helpful thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brad

I'm a new owner of a Macbook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011) running Mac OS X 10.7.0, and I've been having this same problem. After a while, Safari seems to stop scrolling on "complex" web pages, such as Ars Technica. It continues to work on simpler pages, such as Wikipedia. I say "seems to" because if I switch to another application (using Command-Tab, or the three finger swipe) and then switch back to Safari, the page will have scrolled to the new location. If I quit Safari (using Command-Q) and then restart it, everything works again for a while, bt it eventually stops scrolling again. This was happening under the previous version of Safari, and I had hoped that the new version 6.0 would fix it, but it still happens.

I have the same thing happening to my MacBook Pro. It's the Late 2011 model and this issue happens in Chrome. I can't scoll with the trackpad, I have to use the scroll bars to go up and down the page.

Similarly, in Pages, all of a sudden the keyboard will stop responding and I have to quit and reopen pages.

I went from a on older White iMac to a MacBook Pro in January and I have to say it's been a major letdown. I was expecting a huge jump in performance. Instead I'm about ready to put this thing through the wall. I feel as though Apple has wrapped an iMac in an aluminum case and labeled it an MB Pro.

OK, I have seen this from time to time in the past, but it now seems especially bad with the latest Safari 6.0.3 update.

Right now, for example, I have four tabs open in this window. On these three, scrolling works:

But on this page, it won't scroll at all, by any means:

Reloading the page doesn't work, and neither does closing the tab and opening the page in a new tab.

Annoying!
