Why do I lose my mark ups in annotated Preview document.

I have a problem and I’m sure it has something to do with my l;ack of knowledge in how the new Mac OS saves copies of documents but it is driving me crazy. I’ve opened up some PDF files in Preview and annotated them with arrows, ovals, highlighting and such. I then attempted to email them to my iPad. When they arrive in the email all the annotation is gone.

Back on my Mac I thought I would attempt to open these saved documents using GraphicConverter but alas it is the same. All the mark ups have disappeared. I once again double click on the docs and they open in Preview with all their annotated glory.

What gives? I’m going crazy here.

I’ve been a Mac user since 1985 and have never been faced with the inability to “save as” and I don’t like it.

Help please.
