apple pos systems
Does anyone use Apple Desktop as a POS system for a restaurant. I am building a restaurant and will have three POS stations and have heard of 3rd party software and periphials that work with MAC. Pros and Cons? Thank You!

years ago (back in the os 9 days) i explored the possibility and didn't like what i found. things may or may not be different now. will you need multiple terminals? this is one area apple has never shown a lot of interest in. my suggestion? choose your software first and your hardware second. not the other way around.
Think beyond the computer and visit an Apple Store. The employees all carry IPhones with a mag-strip reader attached. Via wireless, they can write an order and swipe a card to make a sale anywhere in the store. Not sure what app they have.
If you have OS 10.6.6 or higher, search the App store for "point of sale." Several items show up, including one for restaurants.
To make sure you get something that meets your needs, i suggest you drop some $$$ to use an IT consultant familiar with retaurant POS and not hostile to Macs.
Best of luck on your new venture.
This is going to the iPad.
