X11 is installed by Mountain Lion. Try using it instead. Be sure that if you use XQuartz that you have this version installed.
I could be wrong but I thought that X11 was no longer installed with Mountain Lion. I believe it is a separate download.
I have downloaded this version, now I have to find out what version of gimp is required.
I checked before posting and found X11 sitting in my Utilities folder. It's definitely a Mountain Lion version. I suppose it's possible it was dropped from the final Mountain Lion release.
Gimp 2.8.0 is the latest version.
In my final Mountain Lion release the X11 icon in the Utilities folder took me to this Apple provided link. Not sure why Apple decided to do this. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5293
Interesting. I never use X11, so I did not notice what they had done. So basically one uses the current XQuartz 2.7.2 version whose site I linked earlier.
Thanks for that info.
Glad to be of service. 🙂
ML GM removed X11 from /Utilities/, put the executables into a root-level, hidden opt folder, and installed XQuartz. When you launch XQuartz, you get the familiar X11 window.😉
Gimp will now work with Mountain Lion. You just have to download it again.
