Macbook Pro SSD,HDD, and OWC Data Doubler

Hey here is my problem i have a ssd and the OWC data doubler. So what i want to do is take out the stock apple drive put in the ssd and put the hdd i took out in the OWC data doubler. But would i need to wipe every thing on the HDD i took out if so how. This is how i looked at it. First, put the ssd in place of the hdd, second take thee hdd put it in place of the optical drive, third boot the ma with the usb with lion, fourth go to disk utility and format both them and reinstall os lion but which one would i put the lion in please help im lost.

Oh, yes, you'll have to format it - didn't you say that you have a Lion install USB flash drive? Just put the SSD in the HD bay, boot from the USB stick, and format the SSD. You can then use the USB stick and install Lion from it. If you have a Time Machine backup, you can then choose to retore the TM backup to the SSD.


Just make sure that you format the SSD with one GUID partition, Mac OS Extended (Journaled). You shoudn't have any problems.


No need to reformat the HD unless you just want to...
