If I remove the camera from my iPhone 4S will it still work the same?

I had an accident the other day and my iPhone 4s suffered some physical damage (screen shattered). It still works fine, but when I use it or when it's charging it gets extremely hot where the camera is located and the battery drains WAY faster than it should (before accident it would last two days, now it hardly lasts a few hours). I also discovered the camera no longer works so I'm guessing that is the source of the problem. So I'm wondering if I were to take the camera out of my iPhone and put it back together everything else normal would it still continue to work fine just without the camera?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

I really wouldn't wanna do that. If you have a warrenty, you're in luck. Back up the iPhone in itunes, take it to apple, explain the problem and see if they can give you a replacement.

So my warranty would cover the replacement camera even though it sustained physical damage?

I took it in once already before I knew the camera wasn't working and they said it would cost $199 to replace the screen since it was from physical damage. I was like, screw that. But would the warranty cover the camera?

axeldude's posting is in error. Unless you have Applecare+ coverage, the warranty does not cover accidental damage.

You would have to pay for the replacement.

They said it would be $199 to replacethe screen, not for a refurbished iPhone. I dont care about any warranty stuff, all I want to know is: If I take the camera out of my iPhone and put it back together, will it still work properly?

As I said $199 gives a replacement iphone .

Apple do all repairs back in a manufacturing facility probably in China

Personally I suggest that unless you are a skilled electonics engineer

no it will not work and you will be left with a pile of parts

and no help from Apple
