My shuffle can not charged, plugged in the orange light flashes three times and then no response.
iPod shuffle, OS X Mountain Lion
What generation Shuffle is it?
How do you know it not charging? Have you seen and read through this article?
iPod shuffle: Checking the battery charge
B-rock
My shuffle is 2nd generation.
Plugged in,the light does not shine, so it is certainly not in charge.and I can't turn on it.
Are you using the original docking cable that was included with the shuffle? You aren't using a cable for the 3G or 4G shuffle are you? If so, it's not compatible with the 2G Shuffle.
Make sure the connections on each end (on the shuffle and your computer's) USB port are snug. Also make sure you are plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on your PC and not via a USB hub or port on the front.
After leaving the iPod connected to power for a couple of hours, try resetting it.

I tried all of these steps but I'm still having an issue with syncing my iPod shuffle (2G) to my Macbook Pro running OSX Mountain Lion. iPod suffle works great on my Windows 7 laptop. This just started when I upgraded to OSX Mountain Lion. Any help is appreciated.
What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting? Have you seen this article?
iPod not recognized in iTunes and Mac desktop
B-rock
I just went through all of the items in the article. One suggestion idicated going to the OS installation media for support drivers but it didn't look like OSX 10.8 required these additional drivers, I also don't have the installation media since I purchased via App Store. I verified that I can access content on a USB key in the same USB port that I plugged the iPod Suffle into. Shuffle is fully charged. When I first connect the shuffle to the USB port or undock/dock it from the cradle it flashes (1 flash) an amber light on the charge/play indicator then goes dark. I can still attach the same shuttle to my Dell Windows 7 laptop and I'm able to sync it with another iTunes installation so the cradle, shuffle and USB connection are working. My iPhone 4 syncs fine with the MacBook Pro. Thanks for any other suggetions.
When you do have the Shuffle connected via USB and iTunes open is there a Devices section listed in the left hand pane?
B-rock
Nope, The Shuffle never shows up under the Devices section. I just went through connecting in succession my iPhone 4, iPod Touch (2 gen) which show up under devices then I connected the Shuffle again without success. I'm wondering if this is Apple's way of saying that I need to upgrade to a 4th gen Shuffle. I don't think it's a Shuffle docking station issue becuase the same dock works on my Dell Win7 laptop without any issues but maybe the USB connector on the MacBook Pro is a little more sensitve and there's actually something wrong with the dock.
With the iPod still connected, hover your mouse over the Devices section and look to see if a show button appears.
Every iPod model ever made should work with the newest version of iTunes and Mountain Lion.
What happens if you reset the iPod Shuffle with it still connected to any of the USB ports on your MacBook Pro?
B-rock
The iPod never shows up in the Devices section. When I perform a reset of the iPod while connected to the USB port of my MacBook Pro nothing occurs on the iPod or within iTunes. The iPod Shuffle cradle works great on my Dell Win7 Laptop but I'm wondering if there's something weird with it's connection to the MacBook Pro. I'm going to search for another cradle to eliminate that from the equation. Will report back afterwards.
Sounds good. Keep us updated.

Just got the brand new cradle and plugged it in but it didn't fix the issue. Quick flicker of an amber light on iPod Shuffle then nothing and no indication of a connection in iTunes or within System Information. Somewhat at a loss to know the next steps for trouble-shooting.
Do you have an Apple Store/Genius Bar nearby you could make an appointment at? If so, I would recommend going that route at this point.
I'm a little short on ideas...
B-rock
Yes, I do have an Apple Store nearby and that was my next thought as well. I'll schedule an appointment this weekend and let you know the outcome. I think at a minimum I should be able to connect the shuffle to other Mac OS devices to see if there's a difference.
Sounds good. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. Let us know what happens! đ
