So far no one has been able to help me. Seems someone else has this problem :-

Now iPhoto is stuck in an infinite loop in starting up. Tried rebuilding library, rebuilding thumbnails, repairing permissions, etc. nothing works.

Mountain Lion has so far proven to be the least stable MacOS I've used since 10.1.

Same thing here, along with a lot of other problems, all relating to networking. Could not even open this page in Safari, but can in Firefox. App Store can't show me updates or purchased apps, but other tabs work fine. iTunes store is the same way. There's more, too.

And none of these problems appear on another MacBook Pro on the same network, also running 10.8.

What in **** is going on?

Miraculously, the post below about Lion works for Mountain Lion as well.

Re: Mail 5 (OSX Lion) does not work after mailbox migration

Dec 15, 2011 1:43 PM (in response to Alejandro M. Ramallo)

This same thing happened today when migrating a friend's laptop.

THE SOLUTION:

Inside the Library folder (Lion hides this folder now, so hold down the option key and use the Go menu in the finder — Library will appear in the menu. Go there.) you'll find the Mail folder. Inside the mail folder was another folder called V2. I simply took the contents of V2 and dragged them to the parent folder (Mail).

When I launched mail again, everything was back to normal. As Apple says, "It's that simple!"
