Aug 1, 2012 7:16 AM in response to coney61by wjosten,If it's a WiFi printer, you don't connect it to your router by cable, if that's what you're doing. You connect it to your network.

Aug 1, 2012 7:19 AM in response to wjostenby coney61,No it's not connected by cable, it's connected wirelessly ( or should be!) it's just not picking it up, just cannot find it! very irritating!

Aug 1, 2012 7:23 AM in response to coney61by Shootist007,Give this a read.
It states that the Printer may need to be connected to the computer by USB cable during the installation of it.
Why Apple and the Most Advanced Operating System in the World cant install a Networked printer without connecting that printer to the computer by USB is beyond me.

Aug 1, 2012 7:25 AM in response to Shootist007by coney61,Ah an ethernet cable...okay will try it out and let you know. Yes it's beyond me too. Oh incidentally i've also tried reconnecting and checking the IP address too and it's all good, I'm totally baffled by the Macs odd behaviour. I've had it working, printed off a letter earlier this week, so it's something silly i'm sure - the question is what?

Because no WiFi printer can be added if the printer cannot be configured for the WiFi network using the printer itself...not unique to OS X...that's the way it is with all OS's. There are WiFi printers that must be first configured using your computer...has nothing to do with OS X.

If that is the case, you had it working, then what has happened is the printers IP address has changed. Set the printer to a Static IP outside the DHCP pool range but still within your LANs IP range. In other words if your router is handing out IPs in the 192.168.1.100 to .150 configure the printer to use a Static IP of below the .100 or above the .150. Then try reinstalling the printer software.

Aug 1, 2012 8:10 AM in response to coney61by Shootist007,Is this before or after you removed the original printer you had installed?
If either or both then you have some other problem with your Mac and that is why the printer stopped working.
What that problem may be I have no idea.
