ITunes does not recognize the iPod

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?

What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?

Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

I'm having the same problem. I have Windows 7 and recently had a new harddrive installed and had to download software again. Apparently there is a problem with itunes for Windows 7 64-bit which requires a Windows 7 installer. It is not installing properly and that may be part of the problem. PLEASE HELP!

I am having this problem too. My 3rd generation ipod nano is connecting to my laptop but not itunes. I just bought a bunch of music and wanted to put it on my ipod, but now its not connecting. I don't know much about Ipods. When I was trying to figure it out I found a update driver button, should I do that? I pushed it and it said it needed to find a driver... SO CONFUSED!! HELP!!
