What a disappointment to find that the otherwise well-built 6th gen. Nano has silly "double sided tape" attaching the wake/power button and volume control buttons! You Tube is full of this complaint. Is this planned obsolescence? I'm not buying another one! I'm angry!

me too I had the same issue and since that my ipod nano 6g was no longer under garanti I had it to replace it. The price of replacement is 65$. So you do not have to get a new one. if you have your ipod for less than a year it should be under garanti so you could have it replaced for free.
I got an nano to replace a 2nd gen; gave me a rebuilt with 90 day warrenty. It lasted 122 before this happened. Paid $65 for a replacement, only gave me a 30 day warrenty. It lasted 62 days; now the wake/power button is gone on this one.
Is a faulty design.
I know apple product does not last for long time. My mom was very disappointed with her new iPhone 4s because she replace it 5 time in a period of 3 week. Each time she had a problem. My dads iPhone last only 14 month and his on/off button was broken. I even had a problem with my iPad. I even replaced my ipod nano 6g two times. All I could say is apple product does not last long.

I think the warranty is good for a year. There is a warranty tool on the web the apple operates to tell if you are under warranty. I have my switch fail and they replaced the unit. Unfortunately it doesn't extend your warranty. My replacement just failed. Now outside warranty. I won;t buy another one until someone can convince me they have fixed this problem. As far as I know all of the new nano's and the touch have the same weakness.
Very frustarated. Just got a 6th gen nano to replace recalled 2nd gen. Power button not working at all!
My second one (replacement under warranty) just failed. This is a great deal for Apple since they only realistically have to send me one replacement even though they all keep failing. Does the new Touch have this problem too?
I can understand your anger. Must not throw away the ipod. Construction simply a new switch.

Such a major design flaw that bricks your iPod as soon as it happens!
Such short-sightedness by Apple.
