Hi
The only way i know is to go to system prefrences and click on Users & Groups then click on the pad lock in the lower left hand corner. Put in your password then it will let you select the Guest account and on the right hand side of the window untick all three boxes. That will make the account non active. But im afraid your stuck with the account for now even though its not active.
Hope that helps

If you deactivate the guest user settings in User and Groups, uncheck "Wake for network access' in Energy Saver, and uncheck "Find My Mac" in iCloud, the Guest user will no longer be displayed.
I see your Guest User still shows up but Disabled.
Same as mine.
I don't think you can get rid of the Guest User, only Disable it like you show.
At least I can't with everything turned off and unchecked like you mention.
Hi LukasCF . I had the same problem . it turns out that if the option of guest account in settings is greyed out it means your guest account is logged in .
solution : sign into your guest account . log out and delete files . go to your account and you will be able to access the guest account tab.
A "Guest Account" is set up through the Users and Groups preferences and has some access to your computer. The "Guest User" is part of the "Find My Mac" iCloud function and is controlled thorugh the Security and Privacy Preferences. I haven't got it in front of me but I think the option is labled "Enable Restart to Safari" or something similar. They are two different things. The latter only gives the user a path to the Internet, not access to anything on the computer if you have FileVault enabled. The Guest User is an important security feature as it allows your Mac to be recovered if it is stolen. With FileVault, the Guest User copy of Safari runs from the recovery partition and your drive is never even decrypted.
Steve
you cannot really remove it, it's part of the icloud setting, the Find My Mac feature, incase you got your mac stolen orlost you can easily locate it through thiis so just leave it be you can deactivate it though in the system preferences users&groups, though the icon in the login won't be removed. once you've deactivated it, you won't be able to select it anymore in the system preferences and it'll look transparent grey.
Hello,
It was really simple.
Just delete your unwanted "users" from system preferences.
Just go to:
System Preferences > Users & Groups > Uncheck the box shown here after unlocking the preferences
I know, most of you will still find other "user" in log in area.
Easily, just go to:
Library > find user file directory (or you can easily find "users" in search box) > and you will see admin and user file shown > just delete the "deleted users" file (consider your want to get rid of it and don't want to use it anymore)
For your information, Apple is really care about deleting your data information. That's why the system is over protective.
I hope this might help you.
Thank you. 😉
Now in 2016, running OS X El Capitan;
I fixed this problem by first opening System Preferences in my admin account > iCloud > Turn off Find My Mac. Then I logged into the guest account and then clicked the Apple Logo and clicked "Log Out".
Then I logged back into the admin account & opened System Preferences > iCloud > Turned on Find My Mac and then went to Users & Groups and clicked the little lock symbol and unlocked it by putting my admin password and clicked "Guest User" and then unchecked "Allow guests to log in to this computer".
That should solve the "GUEST USER" problem!
Hope that helped! 😀
The guest account is there because you have Find my Mac in your iCloud activated. This creates the guest account.
No :-( I can't klick on the guest user account after unlocking the settings with the lock. It's grey…
There is no need to, just leave it as is. It is there for people that you allow to use your mac but dont want to give access to your important stuff or allow to make any types of changes.
I know…but I want no other user on my computer. :-/
