Maps in iWeb showing the MobileMe Closed sign?

When I publish my iWeb site, and also in iWeb itself, the maps widget is only showing the MobileMe is Closed sign that matches the one at me.com. Why would MobileMe being shut down change how the maps widget connects to Google Maps? Is there another HTML maps widget to use?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Have you entered the publishing settings for your new host in the iWeb publishing settings page?

Also, make sure your domain name is pointed to the new location of your website files...

You can try deleting the map widget, save, quit iWeb, relaunch and then redo it it.

Google maps can also be created using the full code in an HTML Snippet...

or by using JQuery...

see my post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4017996?answerId=18618090022#18618090022

because apple hosted google maps api on me.com and they had pulled the plug on me.com.

google map is one of a few things that went south without me.com

if you like to use google map widget, you need to sign up with google as a developer and sign up for google map api. then you need to change one line of code in google map widget.

Since I don't have Mt Lion I can't think of anything else at this time. I hadn't thought of using iCloud with the domain file. Will have to try it out. Not sure is the Domain Cracker or my version can find the iCloud folder but your alias method should work. Or drag the iCloud folder into the Finder's tool bar or left hand pane.

Lots to think about.

I'm finding that Safari 6 doesn't have an activity window any more. Haven't found its equavalent as yet.

I saw that and didn't even recognize it what it represented. Didn't even look at that left hand pane. I was focused on the page code in the middle and angry that it was so small and difficult to read. So I now use an extension that displays the code full size in a new window.

Approaching three quarters of a century is beginning to take its toll. 😟

Hi Everyone,

I had this exact problem on my website this morning and I've created a little page on how to solve this problem here:

It's step by step and includes how to get the embed code out of google maps.

Peace, love and more golds for the UK in the olympics! 😉
