How to use Apple TV with Windows 7 Computers

I just bought a 3rd Generation Apple TV device with the sales persons assurances that it can function as a media extender for Windows Media Center on my Sony Vaio i7 computer and that it can be use to "mirror" that computer as it does my MacMini, IPad and IPhone. I am unable to find any directions on how to do that and am seeking help. Can anyone offer help? Thank you for any help.

Thank you for responding so fast!! I should have mentioned that the newest version of iTunes is installed on the computer and the AirPlay icon is displayed on the bottom right hand border of iTunes. The only selction available is for audio output (AppleTV or Computer or Multiple). There is no Video output choices available. The salesperson seemed confident that the AppleTV would be able to mirror the computer including Windows Media Center data to my TV. My music files do play as they should through the AppleTV to my TV. Thank you again for responding.

The salesperson is half right. YOU CAN DO MIRRORING. Because of a NEW restriction (that the salesperson doesn't know about) with the appleTV2 (1st or 2nd gen) after an update (which you can flash backwards from if you wish) whole screen streaming is ONLY supported by ipad, and iOS devices with OSX LION or later. I have a macbook pro (retina ed. for date) and it does NOT support whole screen sharing. If I wanted to take the update I could then have whole screen streaming but I don't want to update.

This software (and how you get it is your business) ends that problem entirely.

Windows AND Macs w/o OSX Lion

Hope this helps.
