Q: imac will does not recognise my password or username

My iMac does not recognise my password or username. have installed the Mac OS X disc that came with the computer and put in place a new password and username, this worked for a day and has now shut me out again? I dont want to have to reinstall the OS X disc again. What are my options?

iPhone 4, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

The most common reason for this is caps lock. Check that it has not been activated.

Is it a wired keyboard or wireless?

Use the install disk to change the password - details:
