This is still an issue 1 year on, and never had a response?! This time its happening on my MacBook Pro mid 2012...
Hi,
Have you simply tried to restart your computer? That worked for me. If not:
1. Back up all of your data on your HD
2. press command+space bar and type in 'Disk Utility' and press enter
3. Click on Macintosh Hd and press verify disk.
4. If there are any errors, you will have to shut down your computer.
5. turn on your computer and press command + r while it is booting up.
6. Press disk utility and select macintosh HD and press verify disk
7. After you press verify disk, press (in order) 'repair disk', 'verify disk permissions', 'repair disk permissions'
8.Once done, restart your computer. If the error still occours, you will have to reset it to factory settings and restore it from a backup. I will tell you how to do that if my first step didn't work.
hope this helps.
I have been through all of this on the phone with Applecare, but they have left me to try and find the solution as they cant understand it either, hence why i have turned to this community for help! I really do not want to have to take a trip to Genius bar as its not that close to me!
Thanks for your suggestions though.
