How do I stop Safari 6 from automatically putting my Google search query into the address bar?

When I go to google.com, or images.google.com and type a search, it automatically changes my address bar to the search query (even though I didn't search in the address bar). I'd rather see the link in the bar so I can then copy and paste that link elsewhere.

The easiest is to drag the favicon from the address bar to wherever you'd like to paste the URL. The favicon is the small icon to the left of the address/search box — for a Google search it looks like a magnifying glass.

This hint from MacOS X Hints gives you an AppleScript method as well.

(It's worth mentioning that I first heard about both methods via Macworld's @DanFrakes on Twitter.)
