How to remove "ghost" files from iCloud

I have a number of old files that used to be stored in iCloud, but I then deleted. The issue is that they still show on my iPhone in Pages, but grayed out, so I'm unable to manually delete them.

I have tried clearing out all files related to Pages from the iCloud control panel on my Mac, disabling and reenabling iCloud sync for Pages on my iPhone and on my Mac, and I've also checked the iCloud.com website but none of these ghost files are there; they only show up on my iPhone.

Anyone else experienced this?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

Have you tried deleting the actual Pages app from your phone or, worst case, restoring it?

I have tried deleting the app competely, yes, a few times. Unfortunately each time I start it up, these files reappear.

Restoring my phone is the last thing I have to try, and was looking to avoid. Hopefully I'll be able to restore from a backup and not start completely from scratch.

Did a full reset, restored from my iCloud backup, and the files are now gone. Seems like overkill, but it worked.

One frightening moment where the first restore popped up with an error, but it went ok the second time around. Hoping the issue doesn't come up again.
