Suddenly my iPhone won't use my Bluetooth ear piece. It is paired and says connected but I only get sound through the phone itself not my ear piece or even through my car which is also paired. What do you suggest?

My iPhone will not let me talk using my Bluetooth earpiece or through my car. Both are paired and connected but the phone won' t use them. They worked great for months and suddenly stopped yesterday. Any ideas?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

Delete the pairing with the headset, then pair it again.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these steps in order until the issue is resolved.

I've got the exact same problem with my Motorola hands free device. Everything worked fine until a couple days ago. Deleting the device and pairing it as a new device hasn't fixed my problem.
