After upgrading my mid 2011 Mba to os x mountain lion 10.8, the laptop has a slow shutdown (20-30 secs).
Before the shutdown was 2 secs.
Any ideas?

Two things are the general cause to check first.
1) Open applications
2) Connected/mounted external drives
Either one of these will slow the shutdown process while the system closes and disconnects them.
Another thing to try that worked on one of my Macs, clean out/rebuild the cache by performing a safe boot.
Hold the shift key down when you hear the startup tone. It takes a little longer to boot while it does maintenace.
After it comes up, go to System Preferences > Startup disk > select your MacIntosh HD > click the restart button.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
If you have an optical drive, make sure there is no disc in it.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged during the time something abnormal was happening. That time might be before or after the boot.
For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes after the boot time, not before. If the problem is a system crash or shutdown failure, post the messages from before the boot time, when the system was about to crash or was failing to shut down. In either case, please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning or the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Pleasedon’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.
Was trying to figure out the issue, too. I did a clean install of Mountain Lion, added apps back one at a time, etc. The issue for me was GoodSync, which I use to sync files with my server. Or, used - it just doesn't work well in Mountain Lion. As soon as I deleted it and its App. Support data, voila, problem solved. My suspicion is that those who have this problem have an app or two that is either trying to maintain or disconnect from a network connection.
Now on to finding an app that automagically syncs files to my server (OSX - can be WebDAV) once they're changed on my Mac... Bascially Dropbox, but without using a 3rd party server.

Just found the problem..
The printer was wirelessly connected with my mac and for some reason ,if the printer stayed connected with the computer and shut it down, i had this problem.
If i disconnected the printer ,then the mac shuted down normally.

I had the same issue with slow shutdown. Tried all these things and nothing worked. In the end, I backed off what i wanted to keep (Pictures, documents, etc.) to a USB drive and Partitioned/Formatted the "Macintosh HD" then did a clean install of 10.8.
I noticed I no longer had the issue and slowly started adding stuff back in until Google Drive was the only thing left. I never installed Google Drive again (as I use my TC as remote access) and when I deleted it from my iMac the shutdown time was fast again.
In the end, I think it's a combination of several different things for different people but basically anything that can keep a connection open is the culprit. I do sometimes get a slow shutdown if i'm remote to my TC and have it mounted and forget to eject it first. However, it's not always the case. In the end, 99% of the time i'm back to an instant shut down on both computers, and when its not; it's about 10 seconds.

I have the same set of errors.
I tried to do a clean install of mountain lion, without my application installed, but the problem persists.
What can it be? aplle issue a release?
I've tried a few things too...nothing really work, at least not permanently. I hope Apple issues a fix for this soon because this is starting to get on my nerves.
I also have this issue so I called Apple support.
After some discussion and apparently the agent talking to senior agents the response was Mountain Lion is a large upgrade and will take longer to shut down AND (which I wasn't aware) use more power.
The best part was that when I said that along with the improvements there was now some degredation he disagreed and said that taking 10 times longer to shut down and using more power wasn't a bad thing !!!!!
I wish Apple had been more transparent and highlighted these issues up front on the upgrade page. I don't even use any of the upgrades/new features so I'm left with an UPGRADE that reduced my iMac Air performance - GREAT !!!
