To clarify... I already have a xx@me.com account. Hotmail recently said they were doing away with it so I want to establish a new account, for email.
Sorry, I am not quite sure what using your me.com address for mail has to do with Hotmail.
I heard that hotmail is going away and I want to create an Apple email address. (sorry)
I don't use my @me for email ( but want to establish an Apple email). I just set it up for apps and movies. Wondering if @me emails will change.
You can use your me address as an iCloud email address if you use your Apple ID to log into iCloud. However if Hotmail is going away, (and I have no idea if it is or not) then you will need to find another email address to use with the account, since Apple require another email address to the me address on their accounts.
Thanks so much.. I saw on CNET.com that they were doing away with hotmail and going to Outlook. SO expensive for me to change my business info due to email changes so I want to make sure @me.com still works.
I will just set up a new @me.com account. 🙂
There is no guarantee that @me will be around forever either.
If you are running a business then I would get my own domain name and use that for mail. You can just have it forward to anywhere you want. And it will always be there. You can do this easily at any of the big name registrars for under $15 a year.
Wouldn't it be better to have you business card say myname @ mybusiness . com ? It is so easy to do. And you control the name.
@ user 1724 Thank you, great information for those of us who have no idea.
@DD111 I have heard the same thing.
@ anyone above, I thought @me was going out too ( now icloud? )??? I liked it because it was short 🙂 and my business name is long.
Thanks to you all!!! 🙂
New @me.com addresses cannot be created any more. People who already had @me.com (or @mac.com) addresses will continue to be able to use them, though any aliases they create can be only @icloud.com.
Thank you! RW
This solved my question but I do not know how to check it so it shows it did. 🙂
Only the person who started a thread can award the 'solved' marker (he's already done it) but I'm happy to take the thought for the deed.
