Q: My iPod Shuffle doesn't turn on and it doesn't show any lights.

My iPod shuffle 4th generation doesn't turn on, doesn't show any lights, and can't connect to computer. Well, it doesn't do anything. I lost it for like 2 weeks, and i found it yesterday. I tried to turn it on, but the lights didn't turn on and nothing happened. It can't connect to computer, because the computer doesn't detect it. Well, my iPod doesn't do anything at all. Can you help me solve this problem and help me get my iPod back to normal please?

It's either a problem with the USB port on computer, a problem with the USB cable, or a problem on the shuffle.

Be sure to try a different direct port on the computer (don't use a USB hub for now).  Make sure you are cable is fully connected to the shuffle (pushed in all the way on headphones jack).

If that does not help, try shutting down (powering off) the computer, and disconnecting everything that is USB.  Do this to Reset the shuffle.

Start up the computer with only standard keyboard and mouse connected (if used).  Connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on computer.

Thanks, but it's not a problem with the USB port. I don't know if it's a poblem with the cable, and it probably is an iPod's problem. I used a direct port, the USB cable was fully connected and resetting did nothing. Besides the keyboard and the mouse, the only thing that's connected is the printer. Oh, and I forgot one important thing: the iPod MAY have been in the washer. So maybe it's beacuse it's wet. Can you recommend me something in case that's the problem, please?

Water will cause short circuits, so the only thing you can do if there is moisture inside, is to let it sit in a warm dry well-ventilated place for a few days, and hope it works.  I heard that putting it in a bowl of dry rice helps.

Thanks, i'll try that. But keep in mind 2 weeks passed since the iPod was in the washer, so maybe that effected the iPod more.

Yes, it can definitely mess up electronics when it gets wet.  That's the problem with the current shuffle and nano.  They are so small and they are designed to be clipped on clothes, so accidentally washing it probably happens too often...

Yeah, the iPod can be easily screwed up. I hope the 2 weeks i didn't knew where it was didn't affect it too much. I'll try drying it. I already dried it for some hours.
