Considering how many downloads of this software there have been (millions in just a few days) very few people are seeing problems. These forums are available to everyone, but of the millions of new Mountain Lion users, only a handful have posted problems here.

Many of the problems are caused by things they carried forward from older versions but should have Updated or left behind.

Hi thanks for reply, I have mainly problem with browsing internet, now I can't properly use my facebook, twitter, netflix, online banking and netflix, youtube. All are related to my account. I can log in easily but after that I can't go further, it shows me that it is going next page but later on, it says can't open the page. I can't play video in youtube and netflix though I can play video in youtube without log in.

Hello BinodDhami,

I agree with Grant Bennet-Alder, what you see here "are only a handful" of users who are having problems big or small with Mountain Lion.

I for one have a smooth upgrade for both my iMac and MacBook air, and I think whoever were running Lion should have a smoother upgrade becasue Lion and Mountain Lion are very similar and they probably share a lot of the same codes, as compared to older OS.

It may be too late to say here, but whenever you perform a major OS upgrade, and like all mac websites have recommended, you always

1. Perform all the OS and software updates

2. Back up

You would also find out, especially if yours is a daily working computer, that your major running software is compatible with the new OS.

Like for me, I run Adobe Creative Suite, and have major apps like Norton Internet Security, Maintain Cocktail, SuperDuper, CandyBar, DockStar and Attachment Tamer running, so I make sure they are all compatible with Mountain Lion before I hit install.

As for your problem, maybe you can start a new discussion and detail as much as possible, your mac's problems, what 3rd party apps etc you have that you think might affect it, and screen shots - It's a wonderful thing now that this forum allows us to post screen shots!

Cheers

New OS problems - well, not everybody complains to Apple anymore as they normally fix stuff with the next release.

For example, my iPhone now works after being a real pain in the butt for 2 months ( 7 hour battery life now up to 2 days even though there was no issue with iOs- according to Apple!) and Im sure they will fix Mountain Lion too eventually. And there IS an issue with M.L. - no doubt about that. Apple wont admit it as it would hit sales and eventually a quiet fix will come along and everyones happy again.

Welcome to the world of Apple.

So thats probably why there are few complaints. And after all a slow iMac (mine is v slow since 'upgrading') is still similar to an average PC!

Loks like everyone is having a problem. My problem is also reported by about 10 others since yesterday.

The stuff that has problems in this release is not new features. It's things that were working in the 10.7 version that don't work in ML. Such as recovering from sleep, it takes forever. Slower than normal responses in getting keystrokes to actually repspond, slower response starting up and booting up, etc.

It looks like they really didn't test it properly before releasing it.

Have you updated to the latest version of Adobe Flash?

For Netflix, have you updated to the latest version of

Microsoft Silverlight plugin?

Have you run a Repair Permissions with Disk Utility?

OK. Not everyone, but a whole lot more than 10 people have written about problems that only showed after installing ML, maybe not all the same topic, but all since the upgrade.

One issue, which I spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple is that is seems that under certain circumstances, it will boot into safe mode, but not show it on the task bar. And no, I didn't start it in Safe Mode either.

In Safe Mode things like Facebook don't work properly.

Not sure how you know what my macs are doing, but they are and I have talked to Apple and they helped resolve 1 issue, but not the speed it recovers from sleep. That is STILL an issue

All my Macs, Macbook Pro and second G5 were all current before upgrading to Lion including all software app updates.

So you might not want to tell people things untill you have the facts.

One common problem seems to correlate with non-Apple extensions, possibly loaded long ago and migrated from an older Mac OS X.

Linc Davis suggests this as a way to find those non-Apple extensions:

Please copy or drag -- *don't type* -- the following command into a Terminal window, press Return, and post the output (if any):

kextstat -kl | awk ' !/apple/ { print $6 } '
