You can check the iPod's coverage here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

Aug 3, 2012 11:22 PM in response to planb77by tarquin999,thanks planb77. i appreciate your response.
but naw, it's not a hardware problem. and OF COURSE, the warranty period has just expired.
this only started up with a recent software update. i'm seriously ****** at apple for being my nanny. i don't need anyone to tell me when to converve my friggen battery. i'll take care of that myself. what i need from the company is a software fix to correct a stupid-*** feature that is screwing thousands of nano users at the moment.
got any ideas about how we can get the message to the powers that be?
thanks, man,
t

Aug 4, 2012 8:03 AM in response to tarquin999by planb77,Believe what you want, but if it was a recent result of a software upgrade, there would be many others posting here with the same issue, which I have not seen. Yes, there are similar posts, but most were corrected by simply ensuring that the headphones were indeed plugged all the way in.
You can leave them feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodnano.html

Aug 8, 2012 5:39 PM in response to planb77by tarquin999,hi planb77 an update for you re my nano shutdown problem.
first of all, not sure that you ever got to see my reply to your latest post the other day. i think i forwarded it incorrectly at the time. it said:

thanks again for your info and support. yup, i sure wish i could get my mini plugs
(headphones, leads to devices, etc.) to go all the way in. that would solve everything.
i've done everything i can to see if there is an obstruction (such as pocket lint) preventing
plugs from going in further - blowing the socket out with compressed air, carefully digging
around with a needle. nothing in there as far as i can see. and yet, plugs will not go in far
enough to be detected as present when the screen goes dark. sure wish i could turn that
feature off. so yes, i will give apple my feedback.
thanks again,
t
and here is the update. talked to apple today, and thier solution is that they will replace it for $75.
how lame is that? a bad design feature on thier part, and i get to pay 75 bucks to get a working ipod again.
i've been a happy apple user for years, but i think they just lost me as a customer. how much bad press/word- of-mouth can a company possibly attract?
thanks for your interest and your suggestions.
cheers,
t

Aug 9, 2012 5:57 AM in response to tarquin999by planb77,Was the Nano more than a year old? Did they deem the problem the result of user abuse or accidental damage?
And you are positive the headphone plug cannot be fully inserted? It does take a bit of force to get them to pop all the way in compared to previous generations.
