Hi I have a 21.5 inch mid 2011 iMac running Mountain Lion, I want to wipe my hard drive and clean install Mountain Lion. I dont want all my stuff back, just photos and music, the rest I'll reinstall my self. I also dont have a exteranl harddrive. only two USB's one 2 GB and the other 8 GB. How do I do this? And I dont want to pay for mountain lion again. Thanks!

Copy the files to the external drive, boot with Command and R keys, format and install
Problem is I DON'T have an external hard drive..

I need it to install mountain lion. My music alone is 9 gigs and I only have a 2 gig usb.
1. Open Disk Utility
2. Select your drive, select Partitions and create another one
3. Transfer the files to it
will it partion my actual hard drive? what do I boot from?
You can boot from the same partition. After reinstall, you will delete the partition

I made my partition and am currently reinstalling mountain lion to put on my flash drive. I'm using Lion disk maker 2 thats compatible with mountain lion. I'm doing it right, correct?
If you copied the data to the partition, you're doing the reinstall well, so continue
Okay I just had a better idea. Can I transfer all the things I want to keep to my partition and erase my other hard drive??
