Q: Data plan monopolized by iCloud

I normally connect and keep up to date via Wi-Fi. I am on vacation and bought a data plan for 30 days. In order to connect, I had to reset my network settings. Upon doing so, I immediately received numerous push notifications (games, etc) and then had apps begin to download or ask for updates. I keep everything updated at home via Wi-Fi. As a result, my data that was purchased for a month was 95% used within 2 days. What settings need to be adjusted to prevent this in the future?

iPad 2, iOS 5

You need to disable cellular data via cell network.

While disabling the cell would solve the problem, it sort of defeats the purpose of have the pad with you.    If your usage is high for normal stuff, you will blow thru your plan anyway.  But if your usage issue is I cloud updates, while you are gone simply turn the cloud off, or limit usage to that which you really need updated, like calander and notes, and turn off the other stuff until you are back, or in a wifi zone.

You have lots of options.  Take a look at settings, I cloud.
