converting songs downloaded from iTunes Music Store

Question

converting songs downloaded from iTunes Music Store

Wondering if there was any way to convert downloaded songs from the Music Store to any other format. I need to convert some to WAV for use in Final Cut, but iTunes tells me that the files are protected.

iMac G5 2Ghz, Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Protected files cannot be converted to other formats as you experienced.
Burning the files to Audio CD removes the protection.
Then re-import the files in WAV format.
