problem with scanning in Photoshop CS6 after upgrading to Mountain Lion

After upgrading to latest version of Mountain Lion i've got a problem with scanning directly into Photoshop CS6.

on the previous Lion version when I wanted to scan something, i just opened Photoshop -> File -> Import -> images from device

then a new window opened up the ImageCapture app where I could choose the device I wanted to use, and then I selected the scanner (Canon CanoScan 8400F) and I could scan directly into photoshop.

Now with Mountain Lion when I do the exact same thing, it opens a window, but it's impossible to select any device, as the new window is just a plain white window, with 2 buttons on top to rotate something that isn't there. (text is in dutch, cause I'm from the Netherlands)

hope someone can help me out.

I can scan with the use of the ImageCapture app without problems and then save that picture and open it in Photoshop, but it has worked before, so am I doing something wrong? or is this just a little bug

I wish I could help - I'm having the same exact problem when trying to scan in Photoshop CS6 with Mountain Lion and and 2 different Epson scanners. The problem did not exist with Photoshop CS5, so looks like an Adobe problem?

hi Willy,

asked on the adobe forum too, and they said it was a driver problem, or apple problem.

can't try another driver, cause there's no newer driver for my scanner available.

it's pointing fingers now, and still no solution.

dunno if it's possible to scan into other photo software straight away, cause I only use the Adobe software for my image editing.

but it's still strange that I can use the scanner without problems with the ImageCapture app, so I also think it's a Adobe problem.

we'll have to wait and see if something will change in the near future 😟

I’m having the same problem with my Epson Perfection 3200 Photo scanner and Adobe Photoshop CS6. It does the initial overview scan then I get the same blank window as BigNoud shows above. I've done a Software Update and have also updated OSX to 10.8.1.

I know for the Epson you can get a Mountain Lion compatible scan software from SilverFast for about $35.00 as an upgrade here.

I haven't gone that route yet as I don't want to give up any more money for my Apple/Adobe experience.

Any help would be appreciated.

OK…

In case you haven't figured this out yet (Or didn't read the solution up in BigNoud's post like me)…

Here's a temporary free solution of the driver problem…

Go to Macintosh Macintosh HD>Applications>Image Capture

This is Apple's Image Capture Software and looks like the same thing Photoshop accesses to scan images into Photoshop.

I have the same problem. New download from Canon fails to solve the problem. Apples "Image Capture" app is a poor excuse. I have a current largest iMac with 10.8. There are dozens of things wrong with Mountain Lion. CS6 fails extensively. Cursor vanishes. Adobe says that the the graphics chip in this iMac is not support by Mountain Lion. This OS is the worst apple has every produced in history. Apple refuses to support the hardware, even under a hardware maintenance agreement. Class action, anybody??

Indeed, at first test 10.8.4 seems to have fixed the CS6 gross failure of the liquify filter. However, we still have vanishing cursors in CS6 Photoshop, Illustrator, Word, Excel and Finder. New OS has possibly also fixed a file system problem that caused 20X slowdown in saving files. Does this mean I can buy a black Mac Pro?
