is there a way to have auto reply text while driving?

I have scoured the internet for over an hour now, as well as the Apple app store, to no avail. Seriously, it's a sad day that we're in 2012 that there isn't an auto reply app or a feature the comes standard on the iphone that will automatically reply when a text message is received while driving. ***!!! please correct me if im wrong. (and i really hope i am).

Every single app that was mentioned on the internet is not available in the app store. nor was there any setting to have auto-reply setup. my state just outlawed texting while driving. wonderful. so tell me why the iphone, supposedly the best phone money can buy, does not have an app for safety purposes???!!! i'm floored by this!!!! IF I'M DRIVING, I WANT A SETTING OR APP TO TURN ON THAT WILL REPLY TO ANY TEXT MESSAGES I RECEIVE WITH A TEXT MESSAGE BACK TELLING THE PERSON I'M DRIVING/BUSY/WHATEVER

this has me considering an Android next time i re-up my phone........

To the folks who apparently have time to search out these types of discussions, only to post non-constructive comments. Use Siri... REALLY? It is people like you that make message boards like this a right bummer of an experience. Most of the rest of us avoid these forums because, frankly, we know people like you will be here wasting our time with your lazy, unclever nonresponses.

No one- and I do mean that quite literally- NO one- is interested in why you, personally, might think this is a bad idea. Please go post your useless comments on YouTube or somewhere else.

That said- yes, it is quite astounding, and rather annoying, that such an app can't be written for the iPhone, which to my knowledge is still a top selling smartphone. Apple should be aware that there IS a demand for this type of app.

As it is astounding that you will not realise that such an app is not possible in an iOS environment.

It's taken you nearly three months to compose this reply to me? Gosh. Feel free to return to avoiding these forums.

It has been explained, repeatedly I might add, in this thread that this feature is not available and why. No one here can magically make it happen. Therefore, all we can do is explain, recommend that you submit feedback and suggest what alternatives we can. Siri can work very well.

Your comments are rather ironic coming from someone who has been a member of these forums for five years and never managed to provide a suggestion anyone found helpful. Nothing says you have to help other people but don't criticize those who have successfully done so time and time again. Take your own advice. Please go post your useless comments on YouTube or somewhere else.

I wasn't aware of the rule that these forums are the exclusive domain of those who "provide suggestions". In fact, I thought the entire point was so that folks like me, who are looking for answers, could find them.

If I go a long time without posting a suggestion, it's because I don't have one. If I don't have a useful answer, I stay the **** quiet. Others should learn to be so cordial.

Cheers for the character assassination attempt. I truly know I'm dealing with pros here.

Your reading of my post was selective. I stated that "Nothing says you have to help people but don't criticize those who have succussefully done so time and time again." And, as I was apparently not clear before what I'm saying is telling people they should shut up, that no one cares what they say simply because you don't like the answer is rude. Especially when it appears that lots of people have liked tonefox's answers.

Please continue take your own advice and, when you have nothing useful to say, remain silent rather than engage in personal attacks.

2013 and iOS is still not able to have an auto-reply function. sad.

i had an app that could do that on an 50 EUR nokia with Symbia. almost 700 EUR for an iphone that cant do that.

i submitted feedback to apple hoping anyone cares, but the likeliest thing is that my feedback will be deposited in the trash ...

but if enough ppl tell apple to create sth like this it could be considerated.

so if some of you just want to copy paste a feedback to apple:

Hi,

i just spent a lot of time searching the web for an app that is able to auto reply to text messages received.

Shockingly there is non out there, for the apparently best smartphone in the world a function that was available on a 6 year old nokia on symbia!

As far as I understood developers cant access those functions so it is up to you guys!

Develop an app that enables you to auto reply to text messages received!

I think i do not need to point out where this could be very useful! (during meetings, while driving, when sleeping, when leaving the phone at home on purpose, beeing busy, during sports and so on!

i am running iphone5 with the latest iOS!

is there a way to have auto reply text while driving?
