is there a way to have auto reply text while driving?

I have scoured the internet for over an hour now, as well as the Apple app store, to no avail. Seriously, it's a sad day that we're in 2012 that there isn't an auto reply app or a feature the comes standard on the iphone that will automatically reply when a text message is received while driving. ***!!! please correct me if im wrong. (and i really hope i am).

Every single app that was mentioned on the internet is not available in the app store. nor was there any setting to have auto-reply setup. my state just outlawed texting while driving. wonderful. so tell me why the iphone, supposedly the best phone money can buy, does not have an app for safety purposes???!!! i'm floored by this!!!! IF I'M DRIVING, I WANT A SETTING OR APP TO TURN ON THAT WILL REPLY TO ANY TEXT MESSAGES I RECEIVE WITH A TEXT MESSAGE BACK TELLING THE PERSON I'M DRIVING/BUSY/WHATEVER

this has me considering an Android next time i re-up my phone........

Not replying to your incoming messages are only part of the solution.

I think it would also be important for the sender to receive a notice that you are driving. That way, if it is urgent enough, they know to call (if you have hands free calling). It would be nice to customize the message like "I am currently driving, feel free to call me with my hands free device".

At least it would give the sender an idea that you won't be able to respond right away.

So, replace one dangerous activity with another? It doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Using your phone hands free doesn't lessen the danger. As with texting, the problem is where your attention is focused.

iOS 11 will include a Do Not Disturb While Driving function that will send people a notice when they call or text that you are driving.

I think the post was fir those that are texting the driver. Some are persistent and keep texting. When one receives an auto reply that another is driving then that person SHOULD hold off on their driving :)

Just because someone texts you (or calls you), doesn't mean you have to answer. Many of us grew up, before answering machines, with the rule that the phone didn't get answered during dinner. It's your phone. You are in control of what communications you decide to acknowledge.

Are you saying that calling through your vehicles bluetooth is as dangerous as texting? I would think not, since talking to someone over bluetooth wouldn't be any different than talking to someone in the vehicle with you. Also, texting requires you to take your eyes off the road, calling does not. In my vehicle it is possible to call, answer a call, end call etc. all with voice commands, so you don't even need to take your hands off the wheel.

Either way, I didn't realize that they were including the Do Not Disturb while driving feature in iOS11. Very happy to see that! That is essentially what I was looking for.

Yes, I am. And, even though it seems as if it should be the same as talking to someone sitting next to you, it turns out it's not.

Well I'm sorry that I wasn't going to read 14 pages... I actually have things to do with my life, unlike this Seabright chick who has responded to every post since 2012... but regardless, I'm pretty sure iOS 10 is still far past iOS 7 and 8 and yet it's still not available........

If you're not going to read the thread, don't post in it. In addition to being poor form, it makes you look like you don't know what you're talking about. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."

And I am not a "chick".
