512GB SSD Upgrade MacBook Pro

Searching for the right solid state drive to upgrade my late macbook pro I7 to. Right now I have 12gb of ram and it just isn't cutting it. At first I was just going to get a smaller ssd and put my hdd in my MacBook pros optical bay, but then I didn't really feel comfortable with the instal and all the setups and worries about data, and where to put home folder, etc. so then I thought hybrid drive. I looked at the momentus xt 750gb. Then reading over some reviews, it wasn't the type of speed upgrade I was thinking of. So now I am thinking about just upgrading my hdd to a 512gb ssd to get that full speed upgrade. I would put my hdd in an enclosure, just to have for big movies, songs, or tv shows that don't need that speed increase. I just want to be sure before I drop some dough on it. I was looking t the crucial m4 which looks nice, but I saw some YouTube videos with the ocz vertex 4. And some about Samsung 830 and others I just wanted to know your preference, and if I should reconsider going back to the ssd/hdd split hard drive idea to save some money. And what type of enclosure you would use if you put your hdd outside of your computer. I hae black tie for my Mac, but i still worry because I break something during an install it isn't covered. And the prob

Ed people have with setting it p and partioning it.

I have this one from MacSales.com: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MEQM0GBK/

It's a quality enclosure and has FireWire 800 (plus USB2 and eSATA) and is bus powered. If you want something cheaper, they have USB2 enclosures for about $15, as do other places.

As for the SSD, all three are quality drives, but I haven't seen speed comparisons between them.

The XT 750 is almost as fast as a SSD and is larger and cost less, Way Less, then a 512GB SSD.

But if you are set on a SSD take a look at the Intel line of drives. The ones you listed are OK I guess but I've been using an Intel in my PC desktop for over a year with No problems what so ever. Also have one installed in my newest Dell notebook.

On the Mac side I had a Kingston 128 V200 but it just wasn't large enough so I replaced that with the 500GB XT drive, and the 750 XTs are faster then the 500GB model.

Every Body says that, When Prices go down. That will be a while. Like 3-5 years for them to get to where HDDs were 3-5 years ago.

Same thing is going to happen that happen with Spinning drives. The prices will stay the same and the capacity will grow and they won't have the smaller SSDs. So instead of getting a 128GB SSD for 60-90 bucks there won't be anymore 128GB drives produced. The smallest will be 256 and they will go for 150-200.
