Can disc jockeys use iTunes?

Hello

I have a couple of scenios I am concerned about and I am hoping to find the answer here.

1. Do the iTunes terms and conditions allow for a mobile disc jockey to play music purchased from the iTune store at a public event. For example I get paid every week to DJ at my local club.

2. Do the iTunes terms and conditions allow for a mobile disc jockey to play music purchased from the iTune store at a private event. For example I get paid every week to DJ at weddings.

1) No. Tracks from the iTunes Store are for personal use only.

2) Same answer.

Look under "Usage Rules". Quoting from there:

(i) You shall be authorized to use iTunes Products only for personal, noncommercial use.

I have a friend that used to use iTunes until I told him it was against his terms of service. I hope someday they'll allow it.

If by "they" you mean Apple, then you're thinking about the issue completely wrong. It's not a matter of Apple allowing it, it is the way the music is licensed by the owners. you can't buy a CD at Walmart and use it to DJ either. Read the license agreement that comes with it...
