Aug 3, 2012 2:52 PM in response to bingoo7by BDAqua,Hello,
If it won't Safe Boot, (Holding Shift key down), the most likely cause is serious Hard Drive problems, I think you should have it looked at.

Aug 3, 2012 3:59 PM in response to bingoo7by BDAqua,★HelpfulIf you had your Discs, you could reinstall, it doesn't erase your info by default, but if the Drive is messed up it may not even boot from the Install discs.
Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
/sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...

Aug 3, 2012 4:28 PM in response to BDAquaby bingoo7,Thanks again..
Finally I found my disc. I did insert the disc, power on and pressed C. After I couple of minutes the installation box appeared and currently the installation is in progress. 20 minutes left to be completed. I hope this will solve the problem. and I hope I wont lose anything in my browser history or reading list or bookmarks.

Aug 3, 2012 6:41 PM in response to bingoo7by BDAqua,While you can't trust the time thing, I've seen it go up & up after 10 minutes, it may mean you need to repair the drive before installing... or the drive might be failing.

That has to be fixed before trying to install.
Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...

Aug 3, 2012 9:01 PM in response to bingoo7by BDAqua,★HelpfulIf Disk Utility doesn't fix the errors, then erasing or getting a better Disk Repair Utility might.
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Your best bet is DiskWarrior, you need the CD/DVD though.
