Aug 3, 2012 3:59 PMby BDAqua,HelpfulIf you had your Discs, you could reinstall, it doesn't erase your info by default, but if the Drive is messed up it may not even boot from the Install discs.
Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
/sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...

Finally I found my disc. I did insert the disc, power on and pressed C. After I couple of minutes the installation box appeared and currently the installation is in progress. 20 minutes left to be completed. I hope this will solve the problem. and I hope I wont lose anything in my browser history or reading list or bookmarks.

my CD was still in the laptop....its not ejecting
now. I tried to repair using the CD, since I can not remove the CD. I pressed C after switchin on the mac and nothing is happening first I saw the spinning circle under the apple logo, turned to blue then to grey with colorful spinning ball sine 10 minutes. I don't know whats wrong with it.

"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Aug 4, 2012 12:23 AMby bingoo7,nothing working......even the disk utility, infact I cant unmount any drive and still getting error msgs and invalid or missing node structure. I need my laptop today and I dont have enough time to send it for repair or buyin any repairing tools. since yesterday am reying every possible way. but no positive result.
