Hello. After the Mountain Lion upgrade, I have been having issues with different USB devices after my iMac wakes up from sleep. Occassionaly my Logitech USB headset isn't recognized, but my Creative Labs Xi-Fi USB speakers are always offline after waking up from sleep. Everything is straightened out after I unplug and replug the items. It's not the end of the world, but it is a pain.
Anyone else run into this?

Try this, disconnect the speakers, reboot the computer, once logged in reconnect the speakers.
My USB's do not show on the desk top either. They load just fine, and I find them in the finder, so they are there. Can't wait for a bug fixer to come out!
Open Finder -> Preferences -> General, ensure that under 'Show these items on the desktop' you have ticked what you want shown on the desktop, e.g. in your case 'External disks'.

Thanks for replying Zyriab, but you see, that is exactly the problem. I have to unplug and replug in some items, like speakers, headset and my wacom tablet every single time my mac wakes up from sleep or even after a reboot.

I have the same problem also. My usb midi interface has to be unplugged and plugged in after the computer wakes up. I did not have this problem before Mountian Lion.
After waking from sleep some of my USB devices aren't detected.
