Can't see my purchased history in app store even after signing in?

Can't see my purchased history in app store even after signing in? When I sign out and then back in I get a message stating "cannot contact iTunes store"...?

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi + Cellular (VZ), iOS 5.1.1
