Q: compatibility mode

I keep getting a message saying that itunes.exe was set to run in a compatibility mode for an older version of windows.

Any help is appreciated!

Try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):
