MacAir needs workable ethernet adapter quickly please

My MacAir OS X 10.6.8 needs an ethernet adapter so I may connect directly to DSL (can't use wireless for security reasons). The Apple store sold me the Thunderbolt Gigabit Ethernet Adapter which I learned from you requires a OS X 10.7.4 system and above. I cannot get internet at work until I solve this. Ideas please? Thx.

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Worse than that, you need a thunderbolt port which you don't have. Trade that adapter in for a USB to ethernet adapter.
