Yes i have done this numerous times and still to no avail and i have been getting less and less battery time (and real time) when using my ibook away from the power adapter
IIf I still have warranty left with mu protection plan will apple do anything?? maybe test it for me and see if i need to replace it or (i can dream) they replace it.

I am not exactly sure (I wouldn't want to misinform you), you'll have to bring it to your local Apple Store/Reseller and see what they say. You might also want to look at iBook - Service FAQ.

Have you looked at Knowledge Base Document #50666, which has Tips for maximizing your PowerBook and iBook battery charge?

You can get cheap batteries at eBay (I think I got one for my girlfriend for 30 +shipping before I gave her an iBook). You can also get them here.

You've gone through 374 power cycles, and your battery loses a little bit of its capacity as it goes through cycles. The 49% refers to the maximum charge it can hold now compared to when you first started your computer up, and that's pretty normal considering how much use it's gotten. I'm not sure how much help you'll get from recalibrating, but it may be worth a try. Chances are that you won't get much more out of it, though. It may be time to start considering a new battery!
