Why is my screen black?

Is the battery dead? If you click home for sleep and a battery shows up it dead, plug it in, if not then try holding the home and sleep button until the apple shows up!!

Try:

iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

If not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I assume that you have tried charging it, and that it is more of an issue than that. Try resetting the device by holding down the sleep and home buttons until you see an apple logo.

DBTechnology_1 did you notice that the post is 2 1/2 years old? I do not think the poster is still waiting for suggestions. Most posters never mark their post as solved.
