I am used to Windows OS where the folder structure is shown on the left margin and which allows me to drag and drop files from one folder to another. But in my iMac desktop I don't know how to do it. Can someone walk me through this?

With Finder > View > as List, you will see a little triangle next to the folder name. Click on the triangle to expand to see folder contents. Best way to drag drop is usually to just use two finder windows. (Kind of hard to see everything in one window)
Thanks Niel and Dansyacht. I tried the Finder>View>As List approach and it worked. I was able to drag and drop files from one folder to another. Much appreciated.
Choose 'as Columns' from the Finder's View menu.
