Q: streaming avi films through apple tv using mountain lion

hay I'm streaming an avi film through vlc, to the apple tv but the image in the tv freezes constantly. Basically this makes streaming avi films not worth it. I wonder if there is a solution?

AppleTV 2

AVI films aren't directly supported. If you don't have a machine fast enough for AirPlay, there are these alternatives.

AVI films you create yourself can be converted to MPEG4 with various tools on the web.   Those would make those videos more compatible with the AppleTV.

try beamer for mac, i've used it and it's phenominal, i have a 2011 late 11 inch air with the most basic specs and atv3, streaming is smooth as it can be.
