I've gotten into a stream of problems lately with itunes. First my ipod classic decided to automatically go into recovery mode. Then I plugged it in to itunes to do a restore. The restore worked successfully but with some consequences. First and foremost, my ipod is NOT recognized whatsoever on itunes. iTunes absolutely refuses to see it. Furthermore, itunes completely freezes up everytime I plug in my ipod classic to the point that I cannot even force close it.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the problem still persisted. Now, I have itunes uninstalled but now my computer refuses to install itunes. I continue to get this error message:

User uploaded file

If I attempt to install using ASI, it claims that the installer was interrupted. If I attempt to install direct, it says "fatal error".

I have already attempted the reddeit approach. Absolutely nothing has changed.

What is going on here? What do all these crunching errors mean? Please help me with this.

That's interesting.

Every now and then one of these is associated with Apple Mobile Device Support rather than iTunes and I see that AMDS is still on the list.

Doublechecking ... when you went through the user tip, and did the uninstall at step 1, did you uninstall AMDS, AAS (apple application support) and Apple Software Update?

If so, are they currently showing in your Uninstall a program control panel?

Okay. I've finally figured out the problem. I now have iTunes restored and installed and all my files where saved.

But that was only the introduction level to the problem.

Now I am back to where I was originally. iTunes works splendid when it is on it's own. The MINUTE I decided to plug in my ipod, iTunes completely locks and freezes up. I cannot even force quit iTunes out via alt+ctrl+delete. I've thought of using a different cable but it doesn't seem to matter which cord I use.

I should point out that Windows asked me if I wanted it to scan my ipod for any problems. I accepted and Windows stated that my ipod was clean.

There's something not quiet right about this.
