I'm going crazy - I can't emoty my trash... I've been trying all kinds of things that haven't worked.... HELP!!! Here is the error message:
“.Trash” can’t be opened right now because it’s being used by another task, such as moving or copying an item or emptying the Trash. Try again when the current task is complete."
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Have you tried restarting your Mac, and then emptying the trash when it comes back up?

that works but then the same thing happens all over again. Not sure how to fix? RQ
I know that this is an old post, but for the sake of those still looking for this remedy: I just went to Apple (top left menu) > Force Quit and chose finder and hit "Relaunch." worked instantly the next time I wanted to empty the trash.
