Looking for Techniques and Utilities for .mp4 file repair

Can anyone recommend some useful techniques and/or utilities for .mp4 file repair? I have a 3.8GB video file that was corrupted when the camera shut down unexpectedly. All players inculding Quicktime, VLC, etc say the file is an unrecognized format and cannot be played. The "Treasured" app shows that the file can be read by displaying thumbnail frames, so I'm looking for a good and inexpensive utility to repair the file and make it playable. I've also tried the basic file repair in windows to no avail, but I do not the file is capable of being fixed with the right utility. I came accross the Remo .mp4 and .mov repair utility but they're asking for a steep $130 for the software and I'm not certain it will do the job.
