Loss of Time Machine Backup Files

Having just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion all my previous backups onto my Time Machine Disk do not appear. Mountain Lion reports that the disk is unrepairable, but a backup I did with Mountain Lion is visible and accessible on the same disk.

Any suggestions?
