frustrated with Mail! (some forwarded emails not received)

Good afternoon.

We have been trying to migrate our email to Mail (under OS 10.4.11) for months now.

One of us seems to be pretty reliable, save for the ability to receive SOME messages that have been known to be sent from another email application. Some of the emails make it to the inbox - some don't (no discernable pattern to acceptance or failure: size, content....).

Does anybody have any suggestions?

I'm getting to the point where I may just try something else if I can't figure this out! (which leads to the question: Is something like Outlook Express easier to deal with?)

Thanks for your time!

Hello,

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.

Move this Folder to the Desktop...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/

Move this file to the Desktop...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index

Reboot.

If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup

Another option, Thunderbird...
