Last month I switched form Verizon to AT&T. I still have my iPhone 4 and I'd like to use it as an iPod but I can't activate it w/o Verizon service. Is there any way to activate it without having verizon service?

What happens when trying to use the iPhone as an iPod? Deactivating service should not prevent using the iPhone as an iPod and syncing with iTunes, etc. Did you restore the iPhone with iTunes or install an iOS update since deactivating service with Verizon?
Yeah, It wasn't updated to 5.1.1 yet. I think it was on 4.3.1. Anyway, I updated it to 5.1.1 and it wont let me get past activation screen.

Not sure how the same can be accomplished with a Verizon CDMA iPhone since there is no SIM card.

Try this.
The iPhone is a Verizon phone. It does not accept sim cards.
Exactly... But its on the actiavtion setup that the new OS 5 has. You have to walk through the process and activate the phone on an account. Well I don't have the Verizon account anymore.
So how do I bypass the activation process? Its my phone, this shouldn't be such a problem.
the solution i had posted here yesterday would have worked, but apple blocked my suggestion.
try contacting verizon. as you're not locked on a contract for the phone, it is all yours. you should be able to do whatever you want with it. if that doesnt't work, well, you can always sell it on ebay and buy an iPod touch. :)
